Morton’s Neuroma is essentially an inflammation of the digital nerve that is shared by two toes that are next to each other on the bottom of your foot. If your toe hurts or feels numb then these symptoms can show that it is possible that you may be afflicted by morton’s neuroma. If it turns out that you do have Mortons Neuroma then you essentially have a pinched nerve between two toes which results in an enlarged nerve. If you have this condition then you should seek treatment with some of the Morton's Neuroma Products that are available.
Mortons Neuroma is not a tumor or type of cancer as the name may suggest. Morton’s Neuroma is a 'flare-up' condition. It flares up when the nerves are "caught" by the strong metatarsal ligament that holds the nerves together in a compartment. The area that is located right between the third and fourth toes is where Mortons Neuroma normally flares up. This is because this location is where two nerves in the foot come together. When these two nerves come together, it makes them wider than the nerves that are going to the other toes and symptoms are noticed. Above them is a metatarsal ligament that presses downward. This compresses the larger nerves and results in a pinched nerve.

The pinched nerve syndrome that is characterized Mortons Neuroma pain is usually caused by flat feet or feet that roll inward. This causes the nerves to be pulled more tight than usual. This can be caused by narrow, pointed dress shoes and high heels that cause a shift in weight that transfers to the nerves thath are located on the balls of the feet and the toes.

The most common and noticeable symptom of Morton’s Neuroma is the pain you experience when pressure is applied to your foot. This pain is most usually localized to the precise area that is located between the third and fourth toes. The pain that can be experienced from Mortons Neuroma can be mild or it can be severe. The pain is most accentuated when pressure is applied to the foot during walking and running. The simple pressure that is caused by merely wearing shoes or socks can elevate the discomfort and pain symptoms that are caused by Morton’s Neuroma.

The first step in treatment is to take a look at the shoes you wear. You need to find shoes that can distribute your weight and the pressure that you apply evenly across the entire foot. Some types of footwear concentrate your weight and the pressure that you apply in the toes and ball of the foot and this is what you should try to avoid so that you can avoid adverse symptoms.

Optional treatment avenues for Mortons Neuroma may include massaging the area that is affected, using metatarsal pads that can help separate the foot bones and relieve pressure on the pinched nerve, using supportive footwear and insoles, using over-the-counter medications such as Ibuprofen and surgical solutions may be required if none of the above helps. You should also talk to your podiatrist in order to learn about other options and considerations that are related to Morton’s Neuroma.

The initial treatment for mortons neuroma may include padding and taping of the affected area. This can help to disperse weight away from the neuroma. If you happen to have flat feet then you should also use an arch support. You should wear shoes that have wide toe boxes and try to avoid high heeled shoes. If the Mortons Neuroma is being caused by your foot structure then relief may be found with a custom-fitted orthotic that can help to maintain your foot in a better position.
