Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes inflammation and results in symptoms such as intense pain in the heel of your foot. Most often, the cause of plantar fasciitis is when the plantar fascia ligament gets strectched out too much and the treatment can involve reversing this process and getting proper shoes. The fascia ligament is the muscle that stretches from the heel to the ball of the foot and also supports the arch of the foot. View all of the Plantar Fasciitis Products that are available to you.
There are many various symptoms and conditions that can lead to foot pain. The most common type of foot pain is heel pain. Sometimes heel pain is also referred to as heel spur syndrome, also known as plantar fasciitis. It should be noted that these conditions can be present even without an actual bony spur. Treatments that may lead to a cure for plantar fasciitis may include night splints and braces in order to find relief for these symptoms.

Heel pain really is a serious condition that simply cannot be overlooked. If you have this condition then just stepping down on your foot can cause you to experience a sharp shooting pain in your foot. If you press even harder on your sore heel (perhaps because your foot has fallen asleep) then your painful symptoms will become even worse.

Heel pain can flare up at the worst times. This is especially true when the plantar fascia ligament that stretches from the heel to the ball of the foot becomes inflamed. Calcium deposits may also form on the heel bone eventually and this can result in mild to medium to severe heel pain when pressure is applied to the foot.

Heel pain and heel spurs usually happen to people who have flat feet. The reason for this is that when the arch begins to break down and collapse, the band of ligament and muscle at the base of the foot absorb the pressure of impact that is caused by walking or even just standing. As the problem progresses the band of ligament and muscle stretches past its limits. This can lead to muscle tears and bone spurs. Avoiding heel pain can be tough but people who have flat feet should really try to wear support shoes that feature arch supports.

If you wake up with a sore heel then it is probably is the result of your foot muscles tightening up overnight. Your tightened muscles make the pull on the heel bone spur and ligaments, or plantar fascia, more intense and your first steps in the morning can be very painful. The way to know if you have heel pain is if you get out of bed in the morning and standing on your feet causes you to want to sit right back down. The medical term for heel pain is post-static dyskinesia and it literally means "pain after rest." So, the easiest diagnostic for this condition is to pay attention to how your foot reacts when you first stand up in the morning.

For obvious reasons, taking the pressure off of your foot is going to help improve the painful feeling in your heel. Other types of plantar fasciitis treatment include wearing appropriate shoes, using insoles, heel pads, heel cushions or slight heel lifts, correcting leg length discrepancy with an adjustable heel lift, using a heel cup, giving the affected area an ice massage, stretching your calf muscles and maintaining length of the tight calf muscle with the use of a night splint.
